Rebuilding and Renewal Pt. 2

Dear Oxlip Church Family,
Last week, we embarked on our next chapter in the life of Oxlip Church as I started my tenure as lead pastor. Ashley, the boys, and I wanted to thank all of you for your generous cards, gifts, and delicious cakes as we celebrated our first official Sunday together.

As we look ahead to this Sunday, we will continue our 4-part series in Haggai 2:1-9 entitled: Rebuilding and Renewal - Part 2

In Haggai 1, we observed how God’s people began working on the Lord’s temple with excitement only to find their attention was diverted from the Lord’s work for almost 2 decades. The Lord revealed how complacency had seeped into their hearts, and they needed to consider their ways and heart intentions in their worship.

This week we will discover another distraction in the people’s lives that we too must guard against in our pursuit of the Lord: Comparison with past glory. Like God’s people in Haggai’s day, to compare our current season with other glorious times of the past can hinder us from seeing something glorious the Lord longs to do for His people in the current season He’s ordained.

I look forward to worshiping with you this Lord’s Day!

In Christ,

Pastor Joel
